pole barn update

They were siding the pole barn today. They got quite a bit done while I was out there for lunch. They said they should be finished with it tonight except for some trim that goes on one of the overhead doors. The electrical for the house was inspected and Okayed so we should get power sometime in the next week or two. The drywall guy was finally out there too. Mudding should be done by next week.

Mindy and I are going to Mike's to do some signing for the house. We should get our keys then. They won't do us anygood yet as we are still unable to reach the doors. ; ]

Barn Floor

The barn floor was poured this morning. They should finish it off sometime this week. I stuck my head in the basement and they have some lights wired up and the pump capped off for high water. They also started back filling up to the top of the waterproofing line.

The pole barn roof was finished this morning. The electrical contractor was also there working on the meter base and running wires for our power.

The Big Picture.

Here's a pic of everything so far. Windows installed in the basement and the pole barn frame is up. Last night we bought a love seat for the living room. The kitchen table is in storage right now. Mike has his guys inside finishing things off. Lots of drywall and stuff to do. Its suppose to get pretty cold this weekend so that might delay that a little.

Pole barn activity and steps.

Yesterday they dug the holes for the posts in our polebarn. Today the inspector will be by to approve their depth. Later this afternoon they will start framing.

They also put up the basement steps. Not too shabby.

We're really comming along now!

The house was lifted onto the basement walls yesterday. It was really amazing to watch. I'll post more pictures later, but here's how it looks so far. There's nothing major going on the rest of this week. They'll be bringing in a few loads of fill dirt and some sand for under the pole barn. The barn will be started next week, and the drywall guy could be comming anytime to finish up the inside of the house. (That big pipe on top is the chimney for our fireplace)

Basement Floor Poured

The basement floor was poured on Friday April 8. There's some cracking going on, but I will check into that. Can't see them in this view. Sounds like the house will be set on the foundation on Wednesday this week. Right now the weatherman says it should be an ok day to set the house.

THE HOUSE HAS ARRIVED!

The house arrived today. We didn't know when it was showing up so we weren't able to meet it to take pictures while it was comming down the road. They tentatively have next Wednesday scheduled to set the house.

Some basement work happening

Yesterday some stone was added to the basement floor. You can see the housing in the back for the pump that will keep the basement dry in case the water table comes up too high. They will put down a layer of plastic before pouring the floor for added protection. Some drain pipes were added around the perimeter and around the inside before the stone was put on. The house should be delivered today if the weather clears up a little and the wind stays calm (UPDATE - Just got off the phone with Mike, they just delivered the house). (Sorry for the poor picture quality, its from my camera phone)

Water Proof

Yesterday the basement walls were covered with some sort of paper and tar. You can see how the dirt will come up against the house now.

Basement Example.

Lots of people have asked how the basement will look when its all done. This is what it should look like (sort of) this is a walkout, ours isnt. If you look at our other pictures you will see we only have two windows, this house has more. (Also note this house looks nothing like ours).

Here's a pic of the finished basement just in case you don't care how they got this far.

Footings

Here's some pics of the guys working on the footings. The walls will be poured tomorrow morning. That's a little earlier than what they told me originally, but you won't hear any complaints from me.

Excavation

Local frost laws were lifted yesterday morning. Here is some pics of what was going on lastnight. We should see lots of activity in the next few weeks. I even heard a rumor the house might be here next week (4-7-2005). I haven't verified this yet.
